2017 Goals and Word of the Year

Okay, so I know I am late on this. I mean, it is the second week of the year already! WHAAA? Where did that go?! Oh yeah, I was sick for part of the first week. There is not much that is motivational about sitting on the couch for two days straight watching movies because your brain is not capable of doing anything else.

Enough with that, time to be motivational! I am so excited for the new year! I can’t help feeling that there is a lot in store for us this year! The excitement is high, and also the need for lots of faith. Okay, on to my word for the year and it’s meaning to me!

PURSUE

I want to pursue the Lord this year. I want to learn more about Him and grow ever closer to Him. Two of my verses are,

“OH God my God, earnestly will I seek you. My soul longs for you in a dray and weary place where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary to see your power dan your glory. Because your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you.” Psalm 63:1-3

“I will listen to what God the Lord will say and He will speak peace to His people, to His saints.” Psalm 85:8

What this word also means to me, is to listen. Making the time to be quiet before the Lord and let Him speak to my heart. This one is going to be hard because my mind is always going 10 miles a minute! But, with God, all things are possible, right?

The other thing that goes with my word is this song. It is called Pursue by Hillsong Worship. It is such a beautiful song and my hearts cry for this year. I wrote out the words in my journal, and also got this necklace to wear all year as a reminder. The chorus is the most powerful to me.

Now until forever, Jesus I surrender,

show me what I don’t know, more of you.

I’m desperate for your presence,

longing to be with you,

lead me to a new place, more of you.DSC05942

Now to my goals. I will just give you a synopsis, simply for the reason, that I have a lot of goals! LOL! I put them into these subcategories and I had a lot of fun drawing them in my journal!

SPIRITUAL:

~ Pray fro 15 minutes at least every day.

~Seek and pursue the Lord every day by reading His word. Give Him time to speak to my heart.

~Every month, pick a new person that God wants me to encourage and pray for.

PERSONAL:

~Spanish lessons every day that I can. I took some spanish in high school, but it has fallen away and I think it is an important language to learn. Plus, I just found this free program called Duolingo that has been working out well for the last week.

~Cultivate my singing voice. Use it more often and do a full vocal exercise at least once a week.

~Exercise 3 times a week.

~Finish learning the third movement of the Moonlight Sonata. I am well on my way with this one, but learning it, and mastering it are two different things.

~Publish my first book and continue to set writing and publishing goals.

~Write in my diary at least twice a week.

BUSINESS/MINISTRY:

~Continue Blogging two to three times a week.

~Participate in more craft sales and events.

~ Prepare Classes to teach kids during the summer. I have taught sewing classes before and I would like to do so again. I could also teach beginner crochet and Knitting.

~Create and Cultivate my Writing Business/ministry. Work on a website.

PRAYERS:

~Pray for my future husband every day.

~ Pray for the salvation for some of my extended family

Well, that wraps up my goals! I am so excited! Some of them are already happening! I can’t wait to share more, and more importantly, I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this year!

Do you have a word for the year? If so, what is it? What are some of your goals for 2017?

By God’s Grace,

Victoria

  1. Hi Victoria,
I read your blog all the time but have never commented!
I love it so much, especially outfit posts, hair tutorials, your novel chapters, and sewing.
I just started Duolingo a few months ago(learning Spanish) it is super fabulous!
I’m glad you found it, it’s so easy to work with and very educational.
Btw, I’m 15 and I love sewing and modest fashion too!

  2. This was a wonderful reminder for me! I need to be doing many of the things that you listed but can never stick to them. Hopefully this will help me remember to make them priorities! Thanks for posting your goals for this year!
P.S. I love the large calligraphy words you drew in your notebook! They’re so pretty!
