So. . . Ummm. . . I didn’t do a whole lot of prep. With the impending book release, formatting, editing, reformatting again and again, I haven’t really had the time. And both of the projects that I plan on working on are ones that I already have the outline put together for so. . .
I am super excited to get started, but scared at the same time. I have never done a “legit” NaNoWriMo. I just played along with everyone else by picking my own goal and shooting for that versus the whole 50k thing. *freaks out* This will definitely be a test in endurance, and work ethic. I have a life outside of writing so this will be tricky to finagle. Between a part time job, working for myself and consistent custom sewing work that comes in, and THEN TRYING TO ADD WRITING into it. Well, let’s just say I am worried I won’t finish, but I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen.
Will power: CHECK!
I am also excited that I have a new tool to help me in my endeavors this year. The Neo, keyboard, electronic typewriter thing is going to be super helpful in reaching those word counts. I am hoping anyway. I have always hand-written projects, despite the fact that I am a very fast typer (wpm). It has just always been what is comfortable for me. So, hopefully I can be as creative with this baby as I can with a pen and paper. Which I will also be using a lot as well.
The two things I am going to be working on are very exciting to me. I have had to take a break due to a wedding in our lives and a crazy summer in general, but I am so excited to get back to Shadows in London. The sequel to my beloved first-born. I started that one in notebooks, so I plan on finishing that with pen and paper. 7 pages a day will put me at my goal of 2,000 words per day.
Second Project is something completely new and something that I haven’t talked about a lot. It is a modern suspense and definitely something different for me. (hence the reason I have been reading a lot of suspense lately, which you would have noticed if you follow me on goodreads.) Anyhoo, I am thinking I will probably pull together a synopsis to share with you all in the upcoming weeks as I scramble for blog posts in addition to my 2000 words a day. But for now, think small rural town, corrupt leadership, and a broken-hearted neighbor. *grins gleefully* Try not to die of suspense until I get you a synopsis.
Alas, but the one thing I am woefully unprepared for is the whole writing food thing. *bangs head on table* I love candy (specifically chocolate) as much as the rest of them, but I really shouldn’t consume that much. Especially since I am trying to get back to super healthy eating. Perhaps I can pick myself up some sugar free treats and make myself some goodies for emergencies. I also love some good drinks to consume while I am writing. Almost more so than Candy. Between Tea, Coffee, and some fruity/fizzy concoctions of my own, I should be good. Oh, and I also need candles. With the lights turned low, my soundtracks playing in my ears and the candles flickering, the ambiance helps me focus.
Supplies: Sorta check.
Also unfortunately. . . My headphones bit the dust. I seriously NEED to replace those before NaNo. Music is the lifeblood of my writing. It truly is. Soundtracks galore. If you don’t know what I am talking about, just listen to some Hans Zimmer and then we’ll talk. *nods knowingly*
Alrighty then, I think that pretty much sums everything up!
OH! I got this super cool calendar tracking thing because I wanted something a little more professional than just writing it down in the back of my notebook. Now I can keep this in my binder and fill it out as the weeks go by. It was $3 on Etsy and I was glad I bought it. It is adorable and functional, I look forward to using it this month! You can find it here! The shop owner also has some other designs that are super cute as well!
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? What are your projects?
