Hello all! I am so happy and excited to share this book with you! I have gotten to know the author quite well over the last few months and I am so excited for her new series! Book two is actually going to be released relatively soon as well! You can check out the tour here, and you can view her book, which has been consistently ranked in the top #100 in Christian Fantasy on amazon, here.
About The Book:
Two countries, two choices, one life. When Kyraenean slave Celeste risks her life to reach the free nation of Etraea, a country filled with technology and wealth, she unknowingly sets off a chain of events that will change her life forever. After escaping her new owner, Celeste awakens in the home of an Etraean soldier, sworn to protect the fragile peace. For Corporal Mick Haynes, life is simple. Follow the rules, do your job and work your way up the ranks. Getting shot and finding a wanted slave at his family’s farm wasn’t part of the plan.
When a Kyraenean bounty hunter locates Celeste, Mick’s loyalty will be stretched to the limit. With war on the horizon, Celeste faces two impossible choices. Both securing her freedom, but both at a cost she could never have imagined. Will Etraea provide the freedom she’s longed for or shackle her to an entirely new master?

This book was so good! If you like adventure stories, then you will love it. I found that it was suitable for the family. I would probably let the younger ones read it if I was reading it aloud.
The story has quite a bit of excitement! From the first page I was drawn in and excited to see where the plot was going. I didn’t want to put it down. There was action, glimpses of a home life that is beautiful, and I might add, the characters were phenomenal.
Speaking of characters, Hokey smokes can Sarah Addison-Fox write them! I love them all, except for the ones I hate. Even those, I love them because they were good enough to make me hate them. Only a true reader will understand that statement. Most people fan-girl about Mick, and while I like him well enough, Ethan is the saving grace of this book. As a father, he reminds me so much of my own dad. I adore his personality and his drive to take care of his family, his words of wisdom. Maggie is awesome herself and their children are adorable! The glimpses of family life that we get are so enjoyable, they don’t make the story feel slow in the least.
The plot was well worked out for the most part. There is quite the cliff-hanger at the end which leads into book 2 (which I CANNOT wait to read). The change of the characters and the growth that occurs is over all believable and I enjoy the realistic aspects to the story and characters despite the story being set in a fantasy world. The themes were great too. The over all impression that all men are created equal was well done.
If you like adventure stories with a small amount of romance, big themes, and exciting happenings, you will definitely enjoy this book!
*content warning* There is a few uses of a minor swear word that seemed a little unnecessary to me. There was also EXTREMELY VAGUE mentions of how the slaves were treated that may have insinuated at prostitutes. Nothing graphic or shown in any way. Otherwise, some violence, hand to hand fist-fighting, gunshots, wounds etc.
