Black and Classy Outfit

DSC01713

Finally! An outfit post! I have trying for weeks but it hasn’t worked out. We have been super busy. Our Family’s “Barn Boutique Sale” was this past weekend and everything revolved around that for two weeks leading up to it. Plus, we have had my little niece and nephew (4 and 3) a lot. They are such sweeties and I have enjoyed having them around! They call me “toria” because my name is a bit of a mouthful. Reminds me of when my siblings were little and couldn’t say my name either.

DSC01712

I wore this to an eye appointment and you might notice that I am not wearing my glasses! I got contacts! I am slowly working my way up to wearing them. This morning was really hard, my eyes were all dry for a while. And I thought I had put the contact in inside out. LOL! Wearing contacts is a bit of an art and takes some practice and getting used to.

DSC01721

I love this outfit! It is just so effortless, but so put together and classy at the same time.

DSC01722

I had a lot of fun with my hair. These crown braids took a little extra work, but they were so worth it! They lasted great all day and I just loved them! I am hoping to doing a video tutorial on them soon!

I got this skirt from E-shakti. I have been looking for a black high-waisted gathered skirt for a long time. Like, several years. I also wanted to make one, but that didn’t pan out. I couldn’t find the right weight of fabric, so I bit the bullet and purchased this from E-shakti. I couldn’t be happier! They aren’t paying me to say this, but I love this skirt! Is a definite staple in my wardrobe and it goes with pretty much everything. You can pair it with a floral, stripes, solids, flannels. . . you get the idea. It is also a good weight that it can cross over from winter to summer. You can find it here and if you click here you get $30 off your first order! Here are two that are similar. They might seem a bit pricey, but the quality is fabulous and the customer service great. I ordered the wrong size and they paid the shipping back for a return and I received the right size. They want to make sure that you love what you get and that it fits perfectly. With the $30 off you can get one of these skirts for actually a decent price.

The Results from my NuMe OctoWand Hair Tool!

hair

So Ya’ll wanted to see what the results of the NuMe Octowand that I got for Black Friday and ranted and raved over in this post. I love it a lot! These curls last me several days too. It took me about 20 min. to curl all of my really long hair. Not to bad actually.

DSC00363

This is what I started with. Fresh out of a messy bun hair.

DSC00364

I used the 1 inch tapered  barrel.

DSC00365

I sectioned my hair and here is the first curl. I tried to keep my hair flat around the barrel. It is best that way when you have such long hair. Otherwise it would get super thick as you twist down.

DSC00366

DSC00369

One side of my head has a few sections of hair that doesn’t really like to stay curled, so I pin them up with an alligator clip after I curl them so that they can cool.

DSC00370

All done! I look like a longer version of Shirley Temple! So I like to throw my head over and shake our all the curls to give them a looser look. I really rub my scalp to loosen them around my part.

DSC00372

Ta DA!!!! I love curling my hair! IT is so effortless because they last for several days and there are so many things to do with it. I have found that curling before styling actually helps with hold and natural looking ness. . .  LOL!

I would highly recommend these tools and I am really happy with the results from my NuMe wand. This one is sold out, but they are having a deal right now. $39 for any curling wand. I know sounds too good to be true! They are not paying me nor am I getting any compensation for featuring them here on my blog. I honestly just really like the tools and am so happy to have one!  If you like to have curled hair and want a tool that does the job quickly and well, I would recommend NuMe for sure! Check them out!

My Black Friday Shopping Haul!

I wanted to share with Y’all what my black Friday buys were! I made a few splurges on myself and am so happy with them!!!! Let’s get started!

I got some Lamplighter Theatre Audio Dramas!!! The deal was basically just free shipping, but I have been eyeing these for a while. Jessica’s Journey especially. That one is based on two books by Hesba Stretton that had a huge and profound impact on my young self when I read them at the young age of 9 or 10. I heard the promo for it a year ago and almost cried, it brought the imaginings of my heart to life! I have listened to it and it was amazing! We will be listening to the Candle in the Window which is a Christmas story as a family!

DSC00222

I got these two books from Costco a little while ago, it was actually before Black Friday, but the deal was so good and I couldn’t resist sharing them. Earlier this year, I read the ENTIRE book of Les Miserables and though it was quite a large task/goal that I set for myself, and even though it took me 3 months, I enjoyed it immensely! Now I have a pretty copy to put on my shelf! Also, Sherlock Holmes has been on my must read list and now I have them all in one volume! Also, a pretty shelf ornament!

DSC00224

I got these pretty Jewelry pieces from an Etsy Shop called Droplette. Her Jewelry is so pretty and very nicely priced, which my pocket book is thankful for! I don’t know why I love these pineapple earrings, but I do! And you know how I love bracelets!!!! Can’t wait to wear these beauties! Check out her shop she has great things for gifts!

Now for the largest and awesomest thing that I bought! EEK! I am so in love with this Octowand NuMe Curling Wand Set!!!!!! It is this hairstylists dreams come true!!!! I got it for $99 including shipping instead of its original price of $300! They have awesome sales going on now for the holidays! All of their tools are the cat’s meow I have heard and they have some smaller sets that are much cheaper if you want a great curling tool. I have heard that they sold out of the Octowand, but have also heard that the Titan 3 is awesome, as is the Lustrum set. Shameless plug here, I am not getting paid to say this great stuff about NuMe, I just love my tool! I have curled my hair twice, my moms twice and each of my sisters numerous times! They are happy with their curls too! I used it last night for all three of us girls who went to a Christmas tea together. I used a different attachment for each of us, and our hair looked great!!!! Seriously, I could not be happier with this awesome curling wand! I feel like it is a magic wand! LOL!

Christmas Gift Guide for Families!

*Disclaimer* I am not being paid by Amazon.com to use their links in this post. I use them because they are the easiest way I have found to purchase things. I shop there instead of going to the store most times. Smile

These are things we all enjoy in our family, and I thought it might be helpful for those of you who might be looking for gift ideas to give to families, or children! Here are our family favorites!

For The Competitive Bunch

We love playing games in our family! Here are some of our faves!

Scattegories ~ This game is a blast. There is so many people in our family that we often team up. Two people to a board. It often gets into heated but hilarious discussions over whether something qualifies or not, but Daddy always has the final say! Smile

game2

Dutch Blitz ~ This game is a rather new acquisition to our game arsenal. It is super fast, and a blast! It is really easy to learn. My little siblings ages 7-12 are amazing at it! They have beaten me a lot of times! I am thinking now I should have bought the Expansion pack with a family this big. I probably will. Everyone wants to play this game when we pull it out!

game

Quelf ~ My older brother and sister-in-law brought this game over and I immediately had a ton of fun! It is hilarious! There are different cards for different colors. Showbiz is funny, you have to act something out, it is usually silly. Then there is rules. If you draw this card it could add a rule to the rest of the game for you or everyone. For instance, you might have to use hand gestures when talking for the rest of the game. There are several other fun cards as well. A great party game and ice-breaker!

game1

Deck of Cards ~ We often play lots of games with these. Some of our favorites are

Spoons

I Doubt It

3-13

Kanasta

Scaramouche

Go Fish

Old Maid

Always a bit of fun to be had with these! They make great stocking stuffers!

game3

For the Curl up with Popcorn and  a Good Show Bunch

Little House On the Prairie ~ I grew up on this tv show. It is so awesome! It teaches so many family values, has humorous moments, and moments when that make me cry. It will always hold a special place in my heart! Be prepared to fall in love with the characters in this show! Based on the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. (I’ll tell you a secret, I actually like this show better than I do the books. There are several things in the books that I happened not to like. I know, crazy, but it it true. ) Smile

tv

Christy ~ This TV show is so pretty and we enjoyed it so much as a family! Based on the book by Catherine Marshall. I love it! The old fashioned clothes and stories. The sweet children of Cutter Gap, and the rivalry between Doc McNeil, and David Grantland the preacher.

For Those Who Love to Read:

Here is a place to purchase amazing and beautiful books for the whole family!

Lamplighter ~ There are so many things I could say about these publishers! Their attention to detail is amazing and their ministry is so inspiring. There books are beautiful and the stories timeless and encouraging.
